Wedding gown and formalwear alterations

Wedding dress alterations, fitted by hand

A gown off the rack is cut for a size, not for you. We adjust it until it moves the way you do — and we keep the dress looking like the designer made it that way.

What we do on a bridal gown

Bodice take-in and let-out

The most common change. We work from the side seams and the back, following the original boning and lining so the shape of the dress stays intact.

Hem and horsehair

Hemmed to the exact height of the shoes you will wear on the day — bring them to the fitting. Lace and horsehair edges are finished by hand.

Bustles

French, American or ballroom, depending on the train and the fabric. We show you and whoever is helping you how to fasten it before you leave.

Straps, sleeves and corset backs

Adding or removing straps, converting a zipper to a corset lace-up, taking in cap sleeves.

How many fittings you need

Usually two, sometimes three

The first is for measurements and pinning. The second is to check the fit after the work is done. A third only if the gown is heavily beaded or your measurements are still changing.

Start six to eight weeks out

That gives room for changes without rushing. If your date is closer than that, call us — we often can still take it.

Party, prom and quinceañera dresses

Same care, lighter timeline

Prom and party dresses usually need one fitting. Take-ins, hems, strap adjustments and zipper replacements are typically ready in a few days.

Quinceañera gowns

Full skirts, corset backs and layered tulle — we handle the whole dress, including the underskirt.

Frequently asked questions

When should I bring my wedding dress in?

Six to eight weeks before the wedding is ideal. That leaves room for a second fitting without rushing. If your date is sooner, call us at (407) 715-4046 — we can often still fit you in.

What should I bring to the fitting?

The shoes you will wear that day and the undergarments you plan to wear. Both change the hem length and the fit through the bodice.

Do you alter dresses I did not buy from you?

Yes. Almost every gown we work on was bought somewhere else, online or in a shop.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes, we serve you fully in Spanish. Se habla español.
